THE BRIEF
Making Lipton culturally relevant to Gen Z through BeReal's native codes
To launch Lipton Ice Tea Sparkling and make the brand culturally relevant with Gen Z, Lipton partnered with BeReal's creative studio to create a campaign built specifically for the platform’s native behaviors and visual language.
Diane Lapeyronie, OMD Account Director for PepsiCo
THE STRATEGY
A dual-camera optical illusion conceived natively for BeReal's format
Rather than adapting an existing social asset, the campaign was conceived natively for BeReal’s front/back video format. Developed in less than two weeks by BeReal’s Creative Studio, the idea reinterpreted the platform’s signature dual-camera mechanic through a playful optical illusion. In the film, the subject appears to extend their arm through the screen from the selfie camera to grab the Lipton bottle visible in the rear camera view, transforming the interface itself into part of the storytelling.
The creative approach intentionally embraced BeReal’s authentic and unfiltered aesthetic, allowing the brand to feel embedded in the platform culture rather than imposed onto it. The result was a true “show-stopper” format: simple, surprising, and instantly understandable within the native user experience.
THE OUTCOME
An award-winning format that redefined product-launch creative
This campaign proves that you don't need a massive, over-produced commercial to win the attention economy. By deeply understanding and playfully reinventing the platform's native codes, Lipton transformed a simple product launch into a highly relevant, hyper-effective creative event that generated 10.3 million impressions and 1.3 million unique reach, and won Gold at La Nuit des Rois 2026 in the Video Content category as well as Silver at the Open Garden Awards in the Innovative Media Format category. The format allowed for unprecedented retention, with an 8% completion rate on the 15-second video, eight times higher than the usual benchmark, while the Brand Lift Survey also recorded +11 points in ad recall and +5 points in purchase intent.
