How to report content or a user on BeReal?

We strive to make BeReal a safe place for all our users. Our Community Standards outline what is not permissible on our platform.

If you encounter content or user behavior that you believe violates these Community Standards or applicable laws, you can report it at any time through our in-app safety tools or via our dedicated webform. In the app, the reporting tool is accessible from anywhere via the three dots next to each piece of content or on a user’s profile. Simply select the most appropriate reason from the list. If you don’t see a direct match, select “Other” and describe why you believe the content or user poses a concern.

Our teams will review your report manually and take action where appropriate. Reports are reviewed by trained human moderators. BeReal may also use automated tools to detect certain categories of clearly illegal content (such as CSAM); in such cases, the automated detection is always followed by human review before any action is taken.

What happens if BeReal finds that a piece of content of behavior raises safety concerns?

In addition to reports from authorities and users, we monitor content and activity on BeReal to ensure our users’ safety in accordance with our Terms of Use and Community Standards.

Any behavior or content that violates our Terms of Use, Community Standards, or local laws may result in temporary or permanent restrictions, including content removal, account suspension, or account termination..

BeReal generally applies a graduated enforcement approach. Depending on the severity of the violation, you may receive a warning, have content removed, or have your account temporarily suspended. Repeated violations will result in increasingly serious restrictions, up to and including permanent termination of your account.

Please note that severe violations (such as Child Sexual Abuse Material - CSAM) terrorism-related content, or other manifestly illegal content) will result in an immediate and permanent account termination.

In all cases of permanent suspension, you will be prohibited from creating a new BeReal account.

Transparency Reporting

BeReal will publish annual transparency reports on its content moderation activities in accordance with Article 15 of the DSA.

Information on the average monthly active recipients of BeReal in the EU, calculated as an average over the past six months, is published here in accordance with Article 24(2) of the DSA.
